Grooming
For dogs, a "full groom" includes nail clipping, ear cleaning, bathing, blow-drying and a full brush-out. From there, we offer pet or show clips (including hand-stripping) to produce whatever look you desire.
We are happy to set up a grooming schedule that meets your needs, and offer a wide variety of services between full grooms to help with at-home maintenance.
Hair cutting is not appropriate for all dogs. We strongly advise against clipping double coated dogs as this usually causes irreparable damage to the coat. For breeds such as this (ex: Golden Retrievers, Shelties, Pomeranians, etc.) we recommend de-shedding and scissor trimming only.
Full body hair cutting is split into 2 categories: under half an inch, or over half an inch. Cuts under 1/2" are performed with a blade and are generally completed in less time. For dogs with matting, this is the safest and sometimes only option.
Longer haircuts require thorough coat preparation prior to cutting. This results in a longer groom time and a greater expense. Correct purebred breed styling generally falls under this category.
Hand-stripping is a type of grooming reserved for specific terrier and sporting breeds. This is a highly specialized service offered by very few groomers. Hand-stripping can either be performed on a frequent basis (weekly to monthly) to maintain a correct coat (referred to as "rolling the coat") or can be performed less frequently (1-4 times a year) to accommodate customers wishing for a complete grow-out of coat and a full take-down (sometimes referred to as "balding.") Our hand-strippers will work with you to discuss which option better suits your needs. Please note, hand-stripping will not be available for customers unwilling to follow the agreed upon schedule. Prices for hand-stripping vary from $60 to $100 an hour.

De-matting
Even with the correct equipment and techniques, de-matting is uncomfortable for your pet. This service is occasionally available, but depends on the tightness and severity of matting as well as each individual animal's tolerance for the procedure. Matting can result in bruising, hematomas, hot spots and other skin problems. Removal of matting can further result in cuts and abrasions to the skin. Our groomers will not be held liable for issues resulting from the matting itself, nor the removal of matting. Every attempt will be made to ensure the comfort and safety of your pet.
We groom cats, too!
Cat grooming is one of the specialized services offered by Kinetic K9. We are pleased to offer bathing, brush-outs, localized mat removal and full body shaving (lion cuts.) We do not offer scissoring or long hair cuts for cats at this time. Nail clipping and ear cleaning is always included with any cat grooming.
We use tearless shampoos that are biodegradable and environmentally friendly.
We have unscented options, hypo-allergenic options, and offer medicated and all-natural flea & tick products when necessary.
For difficult, aggressive or highly anxious animals, sedation may be necessary. There are many natural options available at your local pet store, though in severe cases a prescription may be needed from your veterinarian.
Feel free to speak with one of our staff if you have further questions about grooming.
